Event 8 Recap

$350 + $50 Deepstack NL Hold'em ($100,000 Guarantee)

Big stack poker was the name of the game as 8 of the returning 13 chip leaders all made the final table, including Mahammad "Max" Amjadi (Marmora, NJ) and Kijoon Park (Brooklyn, NY) who squared off heads up.

Amjadi beat Park to take the title, the trophy and the $35,137 after the final two went head-to-head dead even in chips.

"I'm very happy," said Amjadi who won the tournament with two pair while holding K♠ 7♠.  "I'm glad to be celebrating with my daughter (Linda) and her husband (Albert)."

The final table featured lots of action and included Amjadi and Greg Glassman (Brooklyn, NY) trading double-ups before Glassman finally finished in third place.

Day 2 began with all 45 players returning in the money and featured Andy Andrejevic (Miami, FL) and Robert Boyko (Yonkers, NY) battling for the chip lead.

Andrejevic was first overall to start the day and finished 6th when his pocket kings ran into Glassman's pocket aces.  Boyko started 5th in chips and was the first final table elimination for a 10th place finish.

Recognizable names at the final table included David Kim (Flushing, NY), who began 9th in chips and finished 8th and Mike Santoro (Egg Harbor, NJ) who started 11th on his way to 7th place.

Travis Williams (Reading, PA) was the only true beginning short stack who made the final table. He was 10th from the bottom (36th), but grinded his way to a fourth place finish.

The tournament began with 405 entries for buy-ins totaling $141,750.
Borgata regulars who made the money included: Mike Dentale (14th), Daniel Chan (27th), Lana O'Brien (29th), Event 4 winner Matt Iles (33rd), John Allan Hinds (34th) and Tony Sinishtaj (35th).

Amjadi, who began Day 2 10th overall in chips, rode the big stack to his first Borgata trophy after years of success during the Borgata daily tournaments.  He's originally from Persia and owns a jewelry store.

Park, who earned $20,287 for second place is of Korean heritage and plays poker part time.
