Jack Densing (Blue Point, NY) is our 13th place finisher ($1,375), after tangling in a pot with our now co-chip leader Mohammad Amjadi (Marmora, NJ).  Densing opened under the gun to 90,000, and the action folded around to Mohammad:

Flop: 8 6 7

Amjadi was first to act and led out for 125,000, and Densing followed that by shoving all in for about 750,000.  Amjadi called (and had Densing covered):

Turn: 6

River: 8♣

Densing was busted and Amjadi chipped up to 1.6 million.

Event 8: 16th-18th Places - $1,086

$350 + 50 Deepstack NL Hold'em ($100,000 Guarantee)

Michael Murphy (Wilkes Barre, PA) shoved from the button for his last ~300,000 and after some thought, Greg Glassman (Brooklyn, NY) called out of the big blind.  It was the J J of Murphy against the Q J off of Glassman.  Greg took the lead on the flop with a queen, and Murphy could find his one-outer to win.

16. Michael Murphy (Wilkes Barre, PA)
17. Leonardo Palermo (Toms River, NJ)
18. Christopher Leong (Forest Hills, NY)

Event 10: Break Time

Event 8: Running To Standstill

$350 + 50 Deepstack NL Hold'em ($100,000 Guarantee)

Players have been stuck at 17 remaining for a little while now, as we've seen a lot of raising and folding over that span.  Right now the chip average is 680,000 (~23 BB), and as the levels increase the players will have but no choice to pick their spots.  Mike Santoro managed to double up with Q Q, and chips back up to over 800,000.

Event 10: Burnitz Busts Johnson

$500 + 60 9/6/4 Max NL Hold'em (Re-Entry)

On a flop of Q J 6 rainbow, Austen Johnson (Greensboro, NC) bet, Matt Burnitz (Bear, DE) gave it raised, Austen shoved, and after some thought, Matt called.

Matt Burnitz

Austen had A4 suited for the bluff with one overcard.

Matt was ahead with KQ for top pair.

The last two fell 5 K and Matt took the pot with two pair.

Austen took the walk out of the Signature Room.

Event 8: Level Up, Players Down

$350 + 50 Deepstack NL Hold'em ($100,000 Guarantee)

Event 10: Premium Pairs Punting

$500 + 60 9/6/4 Max NL Hold'em (Re-Entry)

Mickey Woll (Manahawkin, NJ) had a short-stack right where he wanted him -- all in with pocket 8s against Mickey's pocket Jacks.

Then an 8 hit the flop and Mickey had to ship the double across the felt.

Amanda Musumeci (Philadelphia, PA) was not so lucky.  She was all-in with pocket Queens against  Adam Lippert (Brooklyn, NY) who had AK.  A King hit the river and Adam collected the last of her chips.

Dilip Ravindran
Jonas Wexler

$500 + 60 9/6/4 Max NL Hold'em (Re-Entry)

 Level 9:  Blinds 400/800 with 75 ante.

Recent departures:
Branco Benci
Michael Forca
Benjamin Chan
Shawn Busse
Joe Nieman
Jedial Pires
David Heck

Event 8: Chopping The Rail

$350 + 50 Deepstack NL Hold'em ($100,000 Guarantee)

Mike Santoro (Egg Harbor, NJ) was out chip leader coming back from break (only 15-20 minutes ago) with over 1,000,000 in chips.  He had two rail birds come over and sweat his play, and the two hands he played (both calling shorter stacks all-ins) he lost.  He went from 1,000,000 to 400,000 in the blink of an eye, and proceeded to send his rail packing immediately.

Event 11: Half are Gone

Nick Palma (Bronx, NY) got all-in against Daniel Chan (New York, NY).

Nick had 6♣5♣ for the flopped nut-straight.

 Daniel Chan

Daniel had 5♠4x for a pair with useless open-ended straight draw.  He was drawing slim to a chop or back-door hands.

The last two ran out 7♠6♠, bringing the back-door straight flush for Daniel.  Nick was busted and Daniel chipped up to ~165k, good for the early chip lead.

Event 8: Things Quieting Down

$350 + 50 Deepstack NL Hold'em ($100,000 Guarantee)

Players were chatty not too long ago, even making a solid presence felt on Twitter.  Now that we've gotten down to eighteen, things have seemed to become very serious.  The blinds right now are 10k/20k/3k with a chip average of 596,000.  There are a few short stacks in the field, but some players trending upwards are Mike Santoro (Egg Harbor, NJ), Travis Williams (Reading, PA), and Paul Vacchio (Inwood, NY).  Earlier chip leader Andy Andrejevic (Miami, FL) has seen his once million chip stack cut by almost half.

On the flop of J♠T♠9♠, Arthur bet and got two calls.

Turn was a Jack and paired the board.  Arthur fired again.

One player said "I was going to go all-in, but since the board paired.." he just called, as did the third player.

River was a brick and Arthur fired again, getting two callers.

Arthur had 8♠7♠ for the flopped straight flush to take the pot.  His opponents showed A♠2♠ for the nut flush and KJ for trip Jacks.

Event 10: Not An Optimal Spot

$500 + 60 9/6/4 Max NL Hold'em (Re-Entry)

Brian O'Donoghue (Far Left) and Matthew Burnitz (Far Right)

Not a great spot to be sandwiched between Brian O'Donoghue (Bayside, NY), who won back-to-back events in the 2012 Borgata Poker Open (Event 15 for $51,188 and Event 10 for $50,132).  Now this wasn't an event one day, and come back four days later type of thing.  Brian played until the wee hours of the morning winning one event, and followed up by coming right back hours later to win the next!

O'Donoghue was a no show for Event 1 earlier in the series, and a lot of people were wondering why.  Brian was with his mother, who lives in Breezy Point, NY.  For those who may have been living under a rock, Breezy Point was one of the hardest hit areas during Superstorm Sandy.  Over 100 houses in a small area burnt down, but fortunately Brian's families house was not one of them.  There was significant damage, but things can be salvaged and rebuilt.  Brian's a class act, and sometimes regardless of how bad you want to be somewhere, you know where the right place is to be.

Two seats away is Matthew Burnitz (Wilmington, DE), who was the runner-up finisher in the 2012 Borgata Poker Open WPT Televised Main Event.  Matthew took how over $488,000 for his finish, just adding to his already impressive resume.

Event 8: Day 2 Resumes At 1:00 p.m.

$350 + 50 Deepstack NL Hold'em ($100,000 Guarantee)

Players who made it through Day 1 (and made the money), will resume play at 1:00 p.m.  45 players currently remain, which is exactly how many cash in this event (the bubble burst and play was ended for the night).  Andjelko Andrejevic (Miami, FL) is the chip leader coming back with 744,000, which the chip average of the remaining players at 225,000.

Event 10: New Structure, Same Idea

$500 + 60 Deepstack 9/6/4 Max NL Hold'em (Re-Entry)

Welcome back to the Signature Room, for yet another first at the Borgata.  We've all seen the six max tournaments, and the 8/7/6 events, but today is the first for 9/6/4.

For those who make look at that name and question what it means, it's a pretty easy explanation.  All tables in the tournament begin 9-handed.  Play will resume that way until 54 players remain, and the tournament directors will them re-draw the players into (9) six-handed tables.  Once that the number shrinks down to 24, they will then re-draw the players into (6) four-handed tables.  From there the tournament will stay formatted until the final table which will be played five-handed.

It looks like we have a ton of late sleepers right now, as players are just begin to file into the room.  The announcement for cards in the air has just been made, and play is underway.

Event 9 Recap

$350 + 50 Pot Limit Omaha

Relentless aggression was the key for Bruce Yamron (Naples, FL) in winning the Pot Limit Omaha event, $6,298, and his first Borgata Open trophy.  "I got unlucky, but I stayed aggressive" he explained.  "Then I got lucky to get back in it.

He's referring to a big hand against third-place finisher Roger Souse (Durham, NC).  Yamron had his opponent all-in and drawing thin to a gutshot, which Souse caught on the river to survive and double up.  Yamron battled back and eventually had Souse all-in and drawing dead to a chop, which didn't happen.

Roger Souse drove seven hours from his home in North Carolina and arrived Monday just five minutes before registration closed.  At the end, he said "I was so tired I couldn't see the cards".  Souse finished third for $2,159.

Bruce Yamron got heads-up with Eddy Vataru (New York, NY) with a 3:1 chip lead, so it didn't take long to wrap it up.  Vataru got his chips in on the last hand with the best starting hand in PLO:  AAKQ double-suited.  Yamron's AT88 ran him down as the board fell J 9 6 Q K, giving Yamron a back-door Broadway straight for the win.  Vataru collected $3,418 for second place.

Total buy-ins of $18,550 were generated by the 53 entries in this event, and the final nine players earned a piece of the prize pool.

Most notable at the final table was Will 'the Thrill' Failla, (Commack, NY) who made his second final table in two days.  He finished 4th in event 1, earning $44,722.  Today he had to settle for 7th place and $900.

Another notable finish was by accomplished tournament pro Amnon Filippi (New York, NY).   He  made it to the final table of ten, but busted out in 10th place on the bubble.

Bruce Yamron has numerous cashes and final tables here at Borgata and has one cash already in this series.  He finished 78th in event 1 for $1,280.  He'll be away for a few days, but he'll be back to play in the Championship event, which begins Sunday, November 18th.

Final Results
1 - Bruce Yamron (Naples, FL)  $6,298

FINAL RESULTS

Event 9: 1st Place - Yamron

$350 + 50 Pot Limit Omaha

Bruce Yamron (Naples, FL)
$6,298

Bruce Yamron started out the day in event 8, the $350 Deep Stack No Limit event.  Things didn't go his way there and he busted out and decided to play this event.

Good decision!  Bruce, who is a tournament regular and a regular in the high stakes games in the Boardroom, claimed his first Borgata Open title along with $6,298.

Event 9: 2nd Place - Vataru

$350 + 50 Pot Limit Omaha

Eddy Vataru got his chips in the middle with the best starting hand in PLO:  AAKQ double suited.

He was up against Bruce Yamron's AT88 (single suited).

The board ran out J 9 6 Q K and gave Bruce Broadway to take the pot and the tournament.

Eddy finished in 2nd place, earning $3,418.

Event 9: 3rd Place - Souse

$350 + 50 Pot Limit Omaha

Roger Souse (Durham, NC)
$2,159

Bruce Yamron had regained the chip lead, then this happened:

On a flop of 7 6 5, Roger Souse got all his chips in the middle.

Bruce had AK98 and had flopped the nuts.

Roger was drawing dead to a chop, which didn't happen.

Roger Souse finished in 3rd place, earning $2,159.

"I'm so tired, I can hardly see the cards" Roger said after busting out.  He drove all the way from his home in North Carolina (7 hours) and arrived today just 5 minutes before registration for this event closed.

Heads-up play began with Bruce Yamron holding a commanding lead.  He had just under 1 million chips to Eddy Vataru's 342k.

Event 9: Souse Doubles Thru Yamron
