Jedial Pires (Stone Harbor, NJ via Brazil)
$19,845
After a pivotal missed flush draw, Jedial Pires finishes runner-up to Matt Iles.
On the final hand, Pires is down to 300k and has K♥ Q♠ against A♥ J♥. Iles flops an ace to secure the win and the trophy.
"It's okay," says Pires who owns a construction business and plays poker part time. "He got a couple of good hands at the end."
When Pires missed the flush draw, Iles won the hand with pocket queens for a one million chip pot and control of heads up play.
In addition to winning nearly $20,000 as runner-up, Pires picked up 17 bounties for an additional $3,400.
"I love it," says Pires when asked about the bounty format and is looking to continue his success into the Borgata Fall Poker Open Championship event.
