Gardner Going Home Happy
A table explodes with disbelief at the river card and, despite losing a tough hand, Doug Gardner (New York, NY) is all smiles.
"Good luck everyone," he says while heading to the rail when his full house is beaten by the quads of Richard Leach (Washington, D.C.).
Gardner is a short stack and moves all in for his last 8k after the flop of A♣ A♥ 9♠.
Gardner: 3♦ 3♥ (pair of 3s)
Leach: A♦ 6♦ (trip aces)
Turn: 3♣ (Gardner full house)
River: A♠
Leach hits the four outer for quads to take his stack to 45k and is a good sport about his good fortune.
Leach was featured in the 2011 Borgata Poker Open blog when he mistakenly left Day 1 of a tournament four hours early and didn't know he was blinded down to 6k until he arrived for Day 2.
Both Leach and Gardner took their losses in stride and are truly a couple of the good guys of poker.
